Monitor Height and Viewing Distance Guide

Monitor placement should let you view the screen comfortably without forcing the workstation around a single fixed rule. Screen size, resolution, vision and task type all affect preferred distance.

Quick checks

Desk height and monitor height are different problems

A standing desk controls keyboard and pointing-device height. A monitor arm or stand then places the screen independently, which is especially useful when alternating between sitting and standing.

Use comfort and readability as feedback

There is no universal distance that fits every screen and user. Start with a moderate arm’s-length distance and adjust for screen size, text scaling and visual comfort.

How we use specifications

DeskVerdicts records published dimensions and limits as constraints, not quality scores. A higher load rating, wider height range or longer warranty can be useful, but the best fit depends on the equipment, room and user measurements involved.
